Health and Safety

Construction is one of the most dangerous of professions with by far the highest rates in terms of injuries and deaths at work.

Walkers Sign Erectors have a proactive approach in terms of health and safety to keep accidents and injuries to as low a level as possible. A key part of Walkers strategy for prevention of injury, is training. All site operatives are given extensive training to reduce the risks as much as possible.

All our site operatives receive first aid training whether that be as an Emergency First Aid (one day course) or the full First Aid at Work (four day course). It is also a mandatory requirement that they all have manual handling training. Further training includes NRSWA Streetworks, G39 electrical health and safety and specific training for relevant machinery, plant and hand tools.

To aid the health and safety aspect we have contracted Citation Plc to create an extensive Health and Safety Policy and Personnel System, implementing this we have found a definite improvement in terms of efficiency when dealing with the process of personnel management and reporting of incidents. The system has proved useful when analysing accidents in the past to prevent possible reoccurrences in the future.

All these aspects working together have resulted in Walkers having an exceptional Health and Safety record.
